Mark Twain Riverfront Park (2011-02-15)
The City of Elmira has been working with Haas Landscape Architects and HUNT Engineers on preliminary and schematic designs for Mark Twain Riverfront Park to revitalize this key public space in downtown and take advantage of its location along the Chemung River. Elmira Downtown Executive Director, Jennifer Herrick is one of several downtown stakeholders who has served on a Project Advisory Committee. The City will be seeking grants to move the project to final design and construction.
Elmira Promenade (2011-11-03)
The $2.6 million Promenade Project is completed. The formal ribbon cutting held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 3. The Promenade Project was a six-year effort that brought together federal, state and private funding to transform the unsightly railroad viaduct into a centerpiece for downtown revitalization!
Water Street Parking Lot Updates (2011-07-07)
The new payboard has been installed.The instructions, which can also be found on the digital screen of the pay board, are as follows:
The lot has a 2-hr maximum. This project is part of the New York Main Street program, and Elmira Downtown’s “One Block at a Time” initiative.
Elmira Downtown Development is a separate agency from the City of Elmira, but works very closely with City of Elmira staff and departments.
